UPDATE!!!!

Hi guys! sorry i've been gone for a while. I've just been busy with work, friends and manfriends (lol)
but i'm back. Summer's been pretty eventful lately so I couldn't find the time to blog some more.

I'm currently in the process of moving. I haven't moved houses in about 6 years. I've been living here ever since we moved in Canada, so this is definitely gonna be a big step. We're moving to a bigger, better place in 3 weeks' time and i'm starting to pack my stuff. and lemme tell you, 6 years of stuff accumulates!!

My mom decided to get me Space Bags(Space Bag 12 Storage Combo Packs in Color) since  I have disturbing amounts of clothing to which i refuse to sort until we do the big move. I just feel like i'm not in my element to contemplate which stays, goes to Goodwill or straight in the dumpster. I just have a feeling that I'd be too overwhelmed i'd end up throwing my favorite coat, or donating a sequined halter top from 2001! (i dont think the women at the women's shelter would appreciate it). So anyways, if you're moving, space bags are a big help, (i know i sound like the people from infomercials). But they do, and theyre so much fun to use!

Another shocker is the amount of books that i have. textbooks, leisure books, magazines and just random catalogs.  I have 7 big beach bags (100% Cotton Canvas Oversized Grocery/Multipurpose Tote Bag 5 Pack, Shoulder Length Handles) filled with them!! AND, 2 trolley bags more! It's ridiculous!

I dont wanna leave my walls bare just yet, 'cause i think it's gonna make me sad. I'll do it probably 3 days before we officially leave.

I'll give you guys some update on the move. and i might even take pics!

It's a great eye-opener for me, because now i know that I AM A BORDERLINE HOARDER. hahaha!!!

so til on my next post!

wondering how old the water on my bedside table is,
Kate! =)

Summer Happenings

There's always something to do every summer. Wether, it's a barbecue or a festival, you can never run out of things and places to go to. So, i decided to put together outfit ideas for these summer happenings. Check them out!

A Day at the Lake
The place where i live wasn't blessed with a beach, but what we have are amazing, beautiful lakes! "A day at the lake" outfit is always present in my books. Grab your favorite swim top and rock short shorts. Lakes are sometimes windy, so make sure you bring a coverup, an oversized sheer tee screams laid-back beachy, scratch that, Lakey feel. =)
I dont wear makeup if i'm near water, that's a no brainer. Wearing waterproof mascara to the beach, is a big NO NO, because salt water will eventually melt the mascara and it will all end up on your chin. BUT, lake water is NOT salt water, so a waterproof mascara is a big YAY for me, i like to play up my eyes even at the lake!
Your reliable flip flops will save your life when one of your friends decide he's gonna drive the boat like he's James Bond and you're swerving all over. I once went barefeet, and slid 'cause of the slippery boat. Plus you dont want to be barefeet when you're walking by the lake, our local lake has a big population of sea gulls, sooo yeah, bird poop everywhere!!

Lastly, I've just recently discovered Evian water spray. It was so hot this one day that i felt like my face was cracking (haha), luckily my friend needed to get something at the store, and i found this 'magical water mist'. Just spray it on your face, it's water, and it feels soo cool on the skin, it will relieve the heat right away.

Tip: dont bring your expensive digital cameras in the water! waterproof ones are still the go-to, you dont wana be fishing out your $400 camera out the lake at the end of the day.

Festivals GaloreEvery summer in my city, the festivals are everywhere. We have this one where it showcases every single ethnic, race, and diversity in our province. In this huge park, tents as big as houses for every single country they represent, have products, performances and the best part FOOD in them. This is the time of the year, where i get to learn and experience the different cultures in my community, and it soo much fun!

Festivals like this usually asks for alot of walking, sitting in the grass and eating. =) So you wanna be comfortable but still looking awesome at the same time. i love these khaki shorts soo much, i think they're so versatile! Tuck in a sleveless plaid vest and add your fedora for sun protection. Dont forget your SPF! (for your lips+your skin), dust your skin with your fave bronzer (like NARS Laguna) for a healthy sun-kissed glow and you're gonna be looking festival-fab!

Pub CrawlsPub Crawls are everywhere in the summer, a bus filled with partiers, going to different hotspots in town. Some clubs have dress codes, some do not. So make sure you get to go in all of them. Pick an outfit that will pass as casual and fancy but still keepin' it fresh and fun!

Patios
There's a rooftop patio pub in my city that only opens every summer months. It has a mellow feel to it with wooden benches and brass, vintage firepits in the middle of the wooden benches. I like this place alot since it's not as rowdy as clubs.

This floral dress is perfect for a mellow night with good convos. The studded clogs puts a punch of edge to the outfit. Pull your hair into a messy bun adn throw in your gold hoops and you're good to go!

Barbecues
Me and my friends are suckers for barbecues! We have them as often as possible every summer. It's a good way to catch up, and to just be with my closest friends. We make smores, jump on the trampoline and eat burgers without feeling guilty. (LOL)

This is an effortless outfit, but looks very put together. i love the tunic and bermuda because they just scream fresh and summery.Plus i could jump on the trampoline as much as i want without showing my Britney! haha Add in fun, but subtle accessories to complete the look.
Oh and dont forget your sunnies!!

So there you go. Hope they help and inspire you!
Tell me what you think and your plans for this summer!

kate =)

Few of My Fail-Proof Beauty Goods

I have been obsessed with makeup and beauty products for as long as i can remember. And if you go in my room right now and search my vanity you will find tons of make-up, hair and skin care products that are barely used.

Like almost every girl i have my fair-share of cosmetics mistakes. I have bought products from drugstores to the expensive kinds on department store counters that failed me, which i think is an honest mistake every girl could make. It's a trial and error thing. But, if you dont wanna go through the 'trial-and-error phase' ill share with you guys the fail-proof products that have been tested by moi throughout my cosmetic journey.

Blotting Paper

Blotting paper has been around for ages, and it's been every make-up savvy girl's secret weapon against the dreaded oily face. I have been carrying around a pack of these (try Boscia Green Tea blotting paper from Sephora $5) for the past 2 years and i dont know how i got by without them. i would usually pull-out the good 'ole pressed powder each time i see an oily-spot and i end up packing it and bulding it up on my face that I just look like i have ashy spots all over. so... not good. These things are amazing. all u gotta do it dab them wherever the oil or sweat is, and it doesnt mess up your make-up. it is perfect for the club, theyre are so handy (as big as your id card) so theyre hassle-free.

Burts Bees Beeswax Lip balm

I swear by this one! It's been my staple for atleast 4 years now and it has never failed me. I like how it's organic and it has that tingly, minty feeling on your lips after application. I'm one of those girls who get so lazy re-applying lipbalm all day, i have better things to do,... ok i dont, but i am just plain lazy, and i forget so i end up with dry lips (especially living here in the great white north, it's so cold that 'no lipbalm' just wont do.).
So, going back to Burts Bees, this product i apply ONCE a day. let me say that again, ONCE a day. i put it on in the morning while doing my make-up and that's it. my lips stay moisturized and soft all day, even if i eat or drink. i dont how it works but it does.
i also like to put it on before lip gloss/lipstick, it does not change the consistency of the product, but it makes the application softer and smoother. I also like how it's not 'greasy looking', you know, those balms that make your lips look like you've been drinking olive oil? i dont know, it's not my thing.

Rosebud Salve

Ok, most people use this product as a lipbalm, i agree if i dont wana wear gloss for the day i usually just pull this out, it has a hint of pink and it's glossy. But, i mostly use this on my cuticles. YES, my cuticles. I am prone to have dry, ugly cuticles, to the point where they hurt so much i thought they were gonna break open. This product saved my life. all i did was rub some on every cuticle, slept on it and the next day, it's like nothing happened. My skin was back to normal, my fingertips felt so soft and i found my new bestfriend. =D

Maybelline 24 Hr Make-up

When it was featured on last year's Cosmo, i knew i had i to try it. Why? to make the long story short, Cosmo tested 4 foundations, and made 4 ladies wear it during...'u know what' (it's Cosmo, whatelse? lol ) and this baby right here did not budge, did not streak, did not stain his sheets! So, as physical and active as 'u know what' is, this foundation did not go anywhere. So that means whatever you do all day, it aint goin' nowhere. So i tried it, and i've been using it ever since. This product works like waterproof, but easily removed by soap and water. It lasts me all day and it provides amazing coverage. I have 3 shades in my make-up drawer winter, spring and for summer.

Clean and Clear Dual Action Moisturizer (oil free)

Whenever i got out, i get so lazy and too tired to remove my makeup. So the next day little tiny devils called pimples show up. You see, i usually just let them heal and try covering them up with makeup, but i had a date this one time and i didnt wana have that annoying zit on my face. So i went to the drugstore and grabbed this badboy over here. I spot-treated the zit on my nose, slept on it, then TADAH! it was gone the next day!
The saviour, that is Salicylic Acid, saved me. This ingredient is known to heal pimples quickly and it's in majority of acne creams out there. It dries the affected area and kicking that zit off your pretty face. I sometime use this for all-over moisturizer 1 week before i get my period. Since i'm prone to breaking out during PMS, the salicylic acid in it usually stops the pimples before they even come out.

Anabelle Blush #51

If you're into makeup, you've probably heard of NARS Orgasm. It's this pretty, universal colour, coral/peach with gold undertone that the whole make-up world's been raving about! Well, before this whole hype about Orgasm came out, i've bought Anabelle Blush #51. I love this brand so much, that i've hit pan 6 times in the past few years! So when i went to Sephora last year to check out and have a swatch of NARS Orgasm, i was shocked to discover that it is exactly the same as Anabelle #51!!! Except, my #51 was $9, and Orgasm was $49.99.
The consistency is exactly, i probably even like my #51 more than the NARS one (and im a sucker for NARS products)
It gives your skin this natural, healthy flush, but it's not overpowering. It's very buildable, and like Oragasm, very universal. I've tried it on every skin tone, and it works all the time. trust me on this.

Estee Lauder Double Wear (Zero Smudge Lengthening Mascara)

The first time i got this product, i had the sample size. I have been looking for a lengthening mascara for forever, and the brands that i've been using just never fit the bill. So i tried this baby, and it works. that's all i can say. It lengthens and spreads out my lashes without clumping them, it doesn't smudge and it lasts all day! It was a blessing in disguise!

So here are few of my fail-proof beauty products. Hope these help you on your makeup nirvana journey! =)
Tell me what your fail-proof fave product is!

TV MUSES

Hi. I am Kate Fons, and I am a TV-aholic.

I watch TV all the time. when i'm home, this magical box with moving pictures does not stop- all day and all night long.
i watch everything, from old episodes of Golden Girls to the latest Vampire Diaries airings.

So, for our fashion inspiration today, i decided to put together some looks that are inspired by today's TV Muses.

here we go...

True Blood: SOOKIE STACKHOUSESookie Stackhouse is played by Anna Pacquin. First of, let me just say, that her southern accent in this show is the cutest! Her look is 'southern-belle chic' (patented! LOL ) with the classic blonde curls and pretty dresses. Sookie's style is all about the hip-hugging tops and the short shorts, but when she dresses up, her style is very girly with waste-defining A-line dresses. I am head-over-heels over this outfit (the shoes especially), it's very sweet and romantic. To get Sookie's pretty waves Fekkhai's Wave spray, just spray it over damp hair, style, then you're good to go.

The Middle: FRANKIE
Frankie, played by Julia Heaton is a mom of four (including her husband). The Middle is about a VERY dysfunctional family and their mishaps. Anywho, i reinvented Frankie's 'mom style' into something us, youngins, could pull off. This outfit, i would suggest especially in the spring months when it's rainy. I got the Tretorn boots in black, now im rethinking i should've gotten them in yellow, but the soft lining in them are so comfy and smooth i would surely recommend this line of boots. The spring peacoat screams freshly-cut grass, throw in a really cute accessory (like the umbrella pendant above) and as much as i hate rain (yes i do. ), i would actually look forward to it with this ensemble. =)

Modern Family: GLORIA
Gloria, played by the hilarious and sexy Sofia Vergara is our first TV Muse. Gloria is a fun-loving, street-smart Colombian married to an older man and has a son named Manny. Gloria's about the sexy outfits, the tight mini dresses, the hip0hugging jeans and the bright colours. She is the modern day MILF (compliment intended) =)

There was an episode where she wore this gorgeous purple strapless dress, and her olive skin was glowing! it suited her so well, that i thought i would incorporate this look with a fun deep purple top with stained-glass embellishment to promote Gloria's fun and colourful aura. Finish the look by curling the lower half of your hair with a big barreled curling iron and you'll be sporting Gloria's exotic Colombian locks!

Glee: RACHEL BERRY
Rachel Berry is the ultimate preppy. With her classic knee-highs and highwasted bubble skirts; her awesome array of vintage cardigans and her put-together blazers, she is the epitome of Prep.

This outfit consists of a cropped bow-print shirt paired with a maroon high-waste pencil skirt. I particularly love this pairing, because people that are hesitant from showing their tummy in public (like me) could still wear the cropped top because the high-waste skirt will make-up for the shirt's missing part. ;)
I would pair this look with eighties-inspired chunky heels, i love how they're not too high, so a walk around town is still possible with this outfit. I threw in a brown-tinted brow gel, Rachel is known for her defined full brows, i just thought you might want to pull that effect. =)

Grey's Anatomy: MEREDITH GREY
I AM OBSESSED WITH GREY's ANATOMY. i could honestly - and proudly - say that i have never missed an episode of this beautiful masterpiece. =D i watch this show so much that i believe that i am very much capable of performing major neuro-surgery. (LOL)

Ellen Pompeo who plays Dr. Meredith Grey, once mentioned that she loves that all she has to do to play Mer, is put on scrubs and tie her hair in a ponytail. Though i thank the lord everyday that i am not forced to do the latter, i still find inspiration from Dr. Grey's wardrobe, consisting of a white lab coat and a pair of blue scrubs. =S

To incorporate Dr. Grey's boring, white lab coat, i pulled a cropped (sleeve) white blazer, paired with light khaki cropped shorts, paired with a powder blue top and oxfords. To add the "Doctor" effect, lug around a doctor's bag-inspired handbag. ( i have to have this! ) This look screams,a weekend in the Hamptons (dream on) ... or downtown. =)

Vampire Diaries: ELENA GILBERTMy new obsession, Vampire Diaries.
Elena Gilbert, the luckiest girl around who's a real hot vampire magnet is our next TV Muse. Elena's style is very 'real', meaning it's very wearable and not hard to pull off. She usually just throws in hip-hugging jeans, a tank top and some sort of jacket, and im not gonna lay, it works.

The Big Bang Theory: PENNY

Can i just say, i have been a Kaley Cuoco fan ever since her 8 Simple Rules days and i just about jumped out of the window when i found out that she's part of this amazing show. She plays Penny, the not-so-smart neighbor of 4 guys with PhD who are the definition of "nerdy". I think everyone should watch this show, it is hilarious!

This look is very sweet, since Penny works at the Cheesecake Factory (haha. =S ). The acid wash jean jacket 'toughens-up' the look a little bit, but still keeping the outfit 'friendly'. I am lovin' the candy-colored chucks i could just eat them!

So there you go! My TV-Muses, well believe me that's not even half of them. HAHAHA, but I dont think I could ever put a look together with Dog the Bountyhunter as an inspiration. LOL.

tell me what you guys think!

so, what are you wearing for Camping Season?

Hey guys!

...the days are longer and the nights are shorter. The weather's warmer, and the mosquitoes are out...=S

So that only calls for one thing, CAMPING!

me and my girls decided that we are gonna rough it out for a whole weekend in mid june and go camping. Yes, 4 girly-girls who call a collection of 4-5 trees a 'forest', and a wasp an 'infestation' are gonna go out in the wild. (Oh God help us. )

But the fashionista that i am only has one thing in mind.... "What should i wear?" =)

So, here are the some of my ideas for a weekend of my so-called 'roughing it out'.

Bedtime and Bonfire

sitting by the bonfire roasting marshmallows and weiners and just sharing ghost stories....well, maybe not ghost stories. but this outfit is cozy and soo carefree, the loafers are so soft, and the harem pants are awesome. and since, im a proud canadian, ill be sporting my 'i love camping' comfy sweater. Ill pull my hair in a messy bun and tame it with an elastic headband, to avoid my hair from smelling like campfire. ;) and the tent, well, we need a tent.

Hot Tubs and Hotties
the camping site that we're gonna be staying in is minutes away from amazing hotsprings, so a pair of your fave swimsuit definitely is a MUST, but dont forget your SPF, Neutragina has sunblock with SPFs as high as 80, so take your pic. in addition to protecting your skin, protect your hair as well from UV rays and from chlorine (if you're going in the pool), you dont want your hair dried and fried of sun exposure.

PS: the vintage inspired sunglasses and one piece are my new obsession!!!

Who's the Girl from Out of Town?

again, our campsite is half an hour away from a small town with cute european shops and cafes. so a 'walk around town' outfit has to be present. im lovin the 'safari-inspired' shorts , the straw fedora and the awesome gladiators. grab your colourful wooden beads and a weekend bag and you're gonna look 'Out of Town' Chic.

Hiker's High
Our camping ground definitely has a bunch of hiking trails, so 'hiking' will surely be in our agenda. The shorts are spandex, so they are not as constricting as jean shorts per se. Make sure you wear breathable clothes and comfortable hiking shoes, like the cute keds above. I always make this mistake, im usually the one who wears uncomfortable shoes and be the killjoy who complains the whole time, so, i have to follow this rule myself.
carry a backpack for food, if you're going for a long hike; and have a water bottle handy 'cause we gotta keep hydrated, everybody knows that. =)

So there are my outfits for a fun weekend of camping and hiking. I am so excited, i love living in the city, but a weekend away from it is a MUST in order to appreciate it.

Tell me what you guys think!

Hockey Fashion, Stanley Cup Playoffs Edition =)

if you guys dont know yet, i am a sucker for Hockey! i'm obsessed. it's play offs season, and guess what? i had to cancel my Yoga classes to be able to watch ALL of the games! i know, im crazy. And, to make me look even crazier i decided for today's fashion inspiration to use the 8 teams competing on the Stanley Cup Playoffs Semi-Finals

Are your ready? here we go!
before we start, why not start with the NHL logo itself? mixture of black and metallic tones really incorporates my favorite logo of the month. HAHA. the dress itself looks so edgy, im loving the dramatic embellishments making this outfit less hungry for accessories. step on metallic heels and grab your cobalt metallic clutch and you're off to party!

Detroit Red Wings
So, last year's 1st runner up and western conference champions, and 2 year's ago's title holders, the detroit red wings are full of amazing veteran hockey players. the white shirt-dress paired with a thick red braided woven belt. having your hair with a messy bun and wrapped with a red cord headband. The infamous Red Wings logo is incorporated with wing earrings that are so fab! ( i actually have these pair =) )

Montreal Canadiens
The team with most Stanley Cups, battling against my fave team *ugh* (Penguins). The original Red, White and Blue of the NHL is channeled in this hip effortless ensemble. a flowy crop top with distressed red skinnies, white button earrings and a blue denim satchel make this outfit amazing in my books. i would wear this shopping or chilling at a sports lounge (not cheering for the Canadiens of course.) ;)

Philadelphia Flyers

NHL's Tangerines. Philadelphia Flyers, one of Pennsylvania's proud hockey teams. The Flyers are very passionate, physical team that's always ready for a brawl. They have strong, amazing hockey players that could release the fastest one-timers. This look showcases the bright-orange jersey color of this team. The ruffled high-waste skirt is love on a stick. Tucked in is a flowy oversized tank top over a white bandeau. Partying at the nearby club with the bright orange satchel, all you need is your lipgloss and your ID and you're good to go, Flyers style!

Boston Bruins
The Big Bad Bees! Boston Bruins is one of the Original Six of the NHL. I love their logo, im not gonna lie. i love honeybees! =) The Bruins' traditional hockey-style makes them stand out.
I've got nothing but respect for these honeys.
Ofcourse, their distinct colours inspired me for this look, the high-wasted nautical shorts with the nautical necklace is sweeter than honey. the striped top, with ruffled sleeves is just absolutely divine, and i cant ignored the gorgeous honeybee earrings, theyre too awesome to pass! =)

San Jose Sharks
San Jose Sharks, this team is always number 1 on the western conference, but they rarely go past round one (atleast in the past 6 seasons). They have amazing talents and great teamwork, and i think that's the reason why this year, theyre in round 2! (congrats boys!)
I honestly love this outfit. i love rompers!
i accessorized this little number with a shark pendant (get it? ), and to elongate the legs, i paired them with bad-ass cage heels (i need to have these!) and it doesnt stop there, i threw in a bomber leather jacket for those chilly spring nights. And i just LOOOVEE this clutch, i love the color-block and the uniqueness of it. Definitely "a night with the band" look, and a bad-ass after party!

Chicago Blackhawks
The pride of the Windy City. Chicago Blackhawks is a young team, with it's poster boys being under 21, (Jonathan Toews (pronounced: "Taves" [i know right? ], and Patrick Kane ), this team screams FUN! Their bright red jerseys are as loud and as passionate as the rest of the team.

I gave you 2 choices for this look. if you're a little conservative, tucking in a plain white tee under this flowy A-line skirt and oxfords is smokin'! But, if "smokin' " isn't enough, and you want to be on fire, chuck the tee, and throw in this cropped top instead. And to commemorate the Native American figure on the 'hawks' jersey, we'll pop in feathered accessories!
ps: i love the satchel!!

Vancouver Canucks
One of Western Canada's best, the Canucks deserve where they are right now! With the sexy Swedish Sedin Twins and their Olympic gold medalist goalie (Luongo)
I love their electric blue jersey, and it inspired me to pull out this hot mini dress and pair it up with sky-high white pumps; and to give respect to the Vancouver's famous whales, why not accessorize with a beautiful whale pendant? cute huh? finishing the look with a gradient-green clutch. you're gonna look like a Cute Canuck.

Pittsburgh Penguins
The Stanley Cup Defending Champions, and MY FAVORITE TEAM. With the amazing Sidney Crosby as their poster boy, Mr. Canada leads the playoffs with the most points. This team is oozing with talent, love and respect for the game. Formed by the classiest boys of Canada, Russia, Ukraine and the USA, this team wins my heart.

The Penguins' black jersey inspired me to nab this sexy, edgy, cut-out bodycon dress. This revealing, but classy dress (just like the penguins) will definitely catch alot of attention, so beware, 6-10 hotties might want to dance with you all night. To soften this look, why not add a cute swarovkski studded penguin necklace? and like Sid the Kid, you'll get to wear the letter C, but this time, it'll stand for CoCo Chanel. ( i know, a girl can dream.) but if you have 'em wear them with pride! if not? grab a pair of silver chandelier earrings and you're gonna look like a champ!

So there you go. Who knew hockey could drive a fashion inspiration?
tell me what you think!
lovelovelove,
Kate.

Flower Power!!

"Spring showers, bring May flowers" as they say. So the fashion gods showered the fashion gardens and gave us the new trend for spring, FLOWERS!

floral is everywhere this season, from pretty spring dresses, to floral vests and shorts and crop tops. Floral accessories are in bloom as well.

it is one of my favorite prints, something about floral makes me think of brunch on a patio with awesome sunglasses with your manfriend or your girls. =)

Here are some suggestions on how to work the Flower Power!

i absolutely love this look. it has a romantic feel to it. again, my obsession with nude tones is seeping out, but the dress compliments the floral clutch and the flower earrings so beautifully. I call this the 'warm up to floral'. This look shows that you could use floral as a statement piece or something that would compliment an outfit; you don't really have to make it the focal point. this works if you're a little if-y about wearing any kind of floral apparel.

This looks shows that floral comes in other colours rather than the classic bright flowers. the dress will work as your spring LBD. i would wear this for date night with nude shoes to elongate the legs, matching it with a studded clutch to counteract the sweetheart look with a 'bad-ass' biker chic accessory. i also love the chandelier earring because they have a rather vintage goth/elizabethan look to them that makes me wanna wear a silk black choker and call people "peasants!" HAHAHA kidding. this look definitely is NOT lacking character.

Brunch at a cool outside cafe is screaming for you to wear this ensemble. i love the skirt so much, it reminds me of the 50s. i would tuck in the white classic top, sport the trendy clogs and lug around this mustard yellow satchel. i'll throw in these fun earrings and im good to go. this look is soo wholesome and fresh, it's PERFECT for spring.

Polyvore.com

This get-up is soo perfect for an outside music festival or the amusement park. i am inlove with crop tops paired with high-wasted shorts. i am so insecure in showing my tummy in public, so high-waste definitely lets me wear this look without any hassle. plus, the flats are so comfortable with this outfit that walking all day is no big deal. the flower earrings are absolutely gorge, and the butterfly necklace, well, it was attracted with the flowers of the top. =)

So yeah, hopefully you got some inspiration from these suggestions. tell me what you think of them.

lovelovelove,
Kate.
